Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Preußen

The Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Preußen

A short introduction in English for international collectors and researchers.

A specialist society for Prussian philately and postal history

The Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Preußen für Philatelie und Postgeschichte e. V. is a German specialist society within the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten (BDPh). It is dedicated to the philately and postal history of Prussia, including stamps, postal stationery, cancellations, postal routes and the historical background of the Prussian postal system.

Founded in 1976, the society continues the tradition of the former Preußen-Zirkel. Its members range from collectors taking their first steps in the field to experienced specialists who work with postal documents, literature and archival sources.

International collectors are warmly invited to get in touch, compare material and exchange observations. Even specialised questions about Prussian postal stationery, cancellations or postal history often become easier to answer when material and literature can be discussed within an experienced community.

Research

Members collect and compare material, study postal rates, markings and routes, and contribute to a better understanding of Prussian philately and postal history. Findings are shared through talks, articles and discussions within the society.

Publications

The society publishes its journal, PREUSSENSTUDIEN, and maintains digital resources that help preserve research results and make them accessible to members. Contributions range from short notes to detailed studies and practical reference material.

Exchange

Personal contacts, meetings and digital services support the exchange of knowledge between collectors, researchers and anyone interested in Prussian postal history. Members can find contacts for specialist questions, literature and study projects.
